ATI CrossFire Seminar - Helsinki, Finland

On Thursday, July 28th, ATI held a seminar in Helsinki, Finland to talk about ATI's multi-GPU CrossFire solution, with Richard Huddy on hand to give a presentation about the technology.

Forum member Mendel was on-hand to view the presentation, and grabbed a few images of the presentation. It's nothing new information-wise, but may be of interest to any of you who want to see how ATI is promoting this new technology. What follows are the images captured of this presentation - Click on the thumbnails for full-sized versions of these images.

The ATI logo looms large before the presentation begins

Multiply and conquer - The catchphrase of CrossFire

Showing off the hardware requirements for a working CrossFire setup, as well as the key benefits of the technology

ATI claim their performance benefits over an equivalent NVIDIA SLI setup in a few titles. In each chart, the bar on the left represents a Radeon X850 XT-based CrossFire setup, versus a GeForce 6800 Ultra SLI setup on the right

ATI talk about the compositing engine featured on the master card of a CrossFire setup, making note of their ability to blend images from two GPUs at full speed - A knock against NVIDIA's SLI anti-aliasing capabilities perhaps?

Richard Huddy explains the various multi-GPU rendering modes available to a CrossFire setup

SuperAA gets its time in the spotlight, with an explanation of the feature

Richard Huddy looks on

ATI try to make the most of what they perceive as their advantage in the anti-aliasing arena thanks to SuperAA with CrossFire

ATI claims that CrossFire has broader application support that NVIDIA's application profile-based SLI system. While this may be true, some of the titles listed in this slide are simply incorrect - The Chronicles of Riddick for example is a game that works perfectly well under SLI, while ATI claims here that it is unsupported
