StarTech USB 2.0 and DisplayPort KVM switch review

For as long as I remember, a good KVM switch has been a useful commodity, particularly given my history of working both in IT support and as a hardware reviewer; both careers which make the ability to quickly switch between two systems with the minimum of hassle invaluable.  This kind of functionality is arguably becoming useful to more and more people as time goes on, as multi-PC households become more common and utilising different devices for different purposes proves to be more likely.

Of course, the KVM switches of old used to be relatively simple affairs, supporting a basic VGA video link and PS/2 keyboard and mouse ports.  However, times have changed markedly since those days, and we can see just how more complex the requirements of a KVM have become for high-end users courtesy of today's product - A KVM switch from StarTech complete with support for the latest DisplayPort technology as well as USB 2.0 devices.

Just how well does this offering work?  Let's check it out.
