StarTech USB 3.0 to SATA 2.5"/3.5" hard drive docking station review

Having taken a look at StarTech's 2-port PCI Express USB 3.0 controller just yesterday, it goes without saying that the first thing you'll want to do with said controller (or any USB 3.0 controller for that matter) is to plug a compatible device into it.

Thankfully, Startech's range of USB 3.0 products extends beyond simple controller cards, and thus we also have just such a device to make the most of our shiny new data transfer interface.  The device in question is a docking station suitable for both 2.5" and 3.5" Serial ATA hard drives, allowing you to drop a disk into the device so that you can read and write data to it via USB 2.0 or USB 3.0.

Needless to say this kind of device can turn out to be invaluable, particularly if you're constantly swapping hard drives or needing to transfer data between disks without opening up your PC, so without further ado let's take a look to see how it shapes up.
