Eagletech ET-AR504LR-BK 2.1 speakers - Subwoofer

Moving on to the heart of Eagletech's offering here now, let's take a peek at the ET-AR504LR-BK's subwoofer.

In keeping with the satellites, the unit's subwoofer keeps the same wood look and finish, and to be honest the system as a whole wouldn't be an embarrassment to any living room aesthetically speaking.  This part of the ET-AR504LR-BK features a subwoofer with a 5.25" driver, sporting an RMS power output of 15 Watts.

Naturally, this unit requires power, although once again cable length is frustratingly quite short for that power lead if you're looking to install the system into a room that's a little short on sockets or extension cables.

From another angle we get another look at the side-firing enclosure used by this unit's subwoofer, while the rear of the unit gives us our first peek at how everything stacks up in terms of inputs and outputs.

Starting out with inputs, you have a couple of options available here, with the ET-AR504LR-BK capable of accepting connections via either stereo RCA jacks or a single 3.5mm input.  There's no way to switch between these inputs on the music, leaving you needing to use one or the other ideally.  Audio is then output to the two satellite speakers via a pair of RCA jacks, clearly labelled and colour coded for left and right.

The rear of the unit also features the power switch for these speakers, although in all honesty I'd rather have an on/off button on the front of the unit as most people in this environmentally aware age will want to leave the system switched on 24/7.

The front of the unit features an LCD display, as well as controls to adjust volume, base and treble, and to mute the speakers or reset all audio settings on the device.  Although you'll doubtless want to tweak it quite a lot initially, this does make these speakers incredibly easy to set up.

With the unit powered on, the LCD screen acts as a graphic equaliser, while also allowing you to see what adjustment options you currently have selected.

Finally, the unit also ships with a small remote which offers up all of the functionality available on the subwoofer itself, again giving you easy but effective controls over volume, bass and treble as well as options to mute the audio or reset all settings to their defaults.
