1280x1024  performance

Let's now crank up the resolution to 1280x1024 to see how it shakes things up.

This resolution is definitely a bridge too far for the Radeon X1300 PRO - The GeForce 6600 GT fares better than at 1024x768 with anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering, sitting just below the forty frames per second mark.  The rest of our boards still find the game pretty easy going at this resolution, with all of our high-end parts remaining rather limited by the game's 'tic'.

Making use of anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering at this resolution, we finally start to see our high-end parts differentiate themselves.  Both the Radeon X1800 XT and GeForce 7900 GT begin to drop off the pace a little (although still performing at a more than playable level), leaving only the Radeon X1900 XTX and GeForce 7900 GTX to sit close to the game's sixty frames per second limitation.  Looking down towards the mid-range, the GeForce 7600 GT is still making a relatively good showing of itself, and remains just about playable at these settings.
