GELID Solutions Silent Spirit CPU cooler with LGA 1366 mounting kit review
We first reviewed GELID Solution's Silent Spirit CPU cooler back in November, where we found ourselves really rather impressed by its capabilities when teamed up with a Core 2 Quad-based system. In short, it proved to be the quietest cooler we'd witnessed in its particular price range (thanks to a smartly configured, PWN controlled fan), and it wasn't a slouch in actual cooling terms either, keeping pace with other similarly priced parts to make for a well-rounded package.
During the course of that review, we mentioned that the Silent Spirit would soon be getting an additional mounting kit to make it compatible with Intel's latest Core i7 processors - Well, that accessory is now available, and we were lucky enough to snag just such a mounting kit from GELID Solutions themselves. So, can the Silent Spirit make the jump to Intel's latest, greatest and hottest (in both senses of the word) new "Nehalem" architecture? We put it through its paces to find out, while also taking another look at the Silent Spirit itself as a reminder for anyone who missed the initial review.
