NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 Core 192 versus Core 216 performance analysis
When we took a look at XFX's factory overclocked take on the GeForce GTX 260 earlier this week, there was one item on our agenda that we neglected to test - Namely, how a reference clocked version of the current GeForce GTX 260, sporting 216 Stream Processors, compares to the earlier GT200 core used in these parts with just 192 Stream Processors.
As this is an interesting topic for investigation, we instead decided to spin it off into an article of its own, putting both versions of the GeForce GTX 260 through their paces in our usual gamut of games testing to see just how much was gained by the increase in Stream Processors (and indeed texture units) sported by the so-called GeForce GTX 260.
So, whether you're a prospective buyer of a new GeForce GTX 260, an owner of one of the original parts wondering what you're missing out on, or are just plain curious, then read on to find out how these two graphics boards compare.
