Cyberlink PowerDirector 7 Ultra review

It may not feel like it, but it's actually been two years since we last took a look at Cyberlink's video editing and creation suite, PowerDirector - In those two years, the product has gone through a couple of iterations, with what was version 5 back then becoming the version 7 of 2008.  Back then, we praised the simplicity and ease of creation offered by the software, particularly when paired with its easy ability to upload videos to YouTube (in the days before they were part of the Google empire), a first for its time.

In the intervening period, little has changed with regard to the video editing marketplace for the average user (ignoring High Definition for the time being, as it's still some way off gaining major marketshare as far as recording video goes), but if there's one thing that is for certain it's that video editing and uploading has taken off more than any of us could have anticipated, with everyone and anyone uploading more videos to YouTube than anyone would know what to do with.  This has particularly come to the fore during the current US Presidential selection process, with YouTube becoming an important part of the campaign for evangelists of various candidates as well as the official campaigns themselves.

So, in this climate where online video has become one of the most popular ways to announce your thoughts, feelings or talent to the world, what does Cyberlink's PowerDirector 7 have to offer?
